Why is UK Manufacturing so important?

The UK has always been at the forefront of the manufacturing industry since the industrial revolution of the 18th and 19th century, when Britain was once named ‘the workshop of the world’, in fact, the UK industrial sector has increased on average 1.4% a year since 1948 according to a recent report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). However, due to recessions, the rise of export manufacturing, and the fluctuating strength of the pound UK manufacturing has begun to decline since around 1960. As a result of this manufacturing as a share of real GBP has fallen from 30% in 1970 to a mere 14% in 2014.

Here at Constant Power Solutions, we take great pride in the British Heritage of industrial manufacturing and want to continue contributing to the growth and expansion of it in the upcoming years.

On average the British Energy providing sector adds 5.5 billion GBP to the UK economy, with engineering and allied industries comprising the largest sector which is 30.8% of the total gross value added into the manufacturing sector in 2003. However UK manufacturing does more than just add extra money into the economy; it also opens up a range of opportunities for jobs and educational training (in fact manufacturing in the UK directly employs 2.7 billion people and makes up for 10% of GVA and 45% of UK exports)  Which in this competitive and evolving market is vital to a society.  Here at CPS, we go to great lengths to ensure that we can contribute to the growth and development of our community, as we employ local workers who specialize in a range of skills including; electrical, engineering, and office roles. However we don’t just focus on employing professionals, we also understand the importance of education and training, especially in the current job market where getting experience is vital to the progression of a career in any sector. To help aid those looking to begin their vocation in the industry we offer a range of apprenticeships and training schemes by working alongside local colleges to help give the younger generation the boost they need to get onto the career ladder and help stabilize their future within a booming and ever-evolving industry.

Our main aim here at CPS is to put the UK back on the map for manufacturing as we are currently the 9th largest industrial nation in the world, which we believe in something to take great pride in considering the size and scale of our country compared to others worldwide.

Our products also have a direct correlation with British history and development as the first Diesel engine was actually made here in the UK by Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel and Michael Faraday in 1885, since then the popularity and development of Diesel engines have rocketed. With the demand for these products coming from all over the world.

In short, continuing to manufacture in the UK, and growing our business and ventures on our own doorstep provides endless opportunities and benefits to not only our economy but to our consumers as well; as you can rest with the knowledge that your UK manufactured product will be of a high quality and standard, and that any generator you purchase from us will be made by us. Think made in the UK… Think CPS.
