Project Overview

The project was to provide standby power to a data centre for a very well known high street bank. This project was different to most as the client did not want the generators to have fitted radiators, but to be able to be connected to a heat exchanger system on site that would provide the establishment with hot water and additional heat when in operation.

Constant Power Solutions have recently completed a project with one of the largest suppliers of critical power solutions for data centre’s and the financial sector in the United Kingdom, with this particular project site being in Essex.

We supplied 2 x CPS Alpha Series Volvo Powered 700kva Open Set Diesel Generators using the Volvo TWD1645GE engine, coupled to a Leroy Somer TAL049B alternator and Deepsea Electronics Controller.

In this project, we were tasked to provide standby power for a data centre for a major high street bank. We’ve supplied many major banks with back-up critical power, but this project was different to most as the customer did not want the generators to have fitted radiators, but to be able to be connected to a heat exchanger system on site that would provide the establishment with hot water and additional heat when in operation.

Constant Power Solutions engineers had a detailed technical meeting with the customer and project manager, ensuring that the build was to the correct specification, and that with the removal of the radiator, the correct pipework was installed to connect to the exchangers.

The end user had a specific colour specification for the Generator, including the engine, alternator and control panels, therefore the team took measures to make sure that the generators looked aesthetically pleasing.

The generators were part of a complete refurbishment of the data centre and therefore were a small part of a very large refurb project. Constant Power Solutions kept in regular contact with the Project Manager of the site and regular visits to our factory in Selby allowed the Project Manager to check on the quality and efficiency of the build which was completed within 8 weeks and on time in line with the customers requirements.
