On Tuesday 1st August, Constant Power Solutions underwent a Factory Acceptance Test on one of our UK built Perkins 21KVA single-phase generators. This compiled of the generator going through a rigorous testing period of 8 hours with only 30 minutes break. Starting from 9 am till 5 pm, Stephen and Kevin, worked tirelessly to satisfy the customers’ needs in regards to the questions asked.
Throughout the day there were many different areas of testing, this included a continuous 4 hour run at 100% load as well as load stepping the CPS generator. From 0-25%, 25%-50%, 50%-100% and suddenly dropping down to 0%. This enabled us to see the reactions and capabilities of the Perkins CPS generator in harsh conditions. This is shown in the table below.

The second main test was to test how the Perkins generator would proceed when it was pushed to run at 110% load for one hour, in which the generator had no issues with completing.
You may be wondering why we went through with such rigorous testing, well, the truth is, the generator will be used as a backup generator at an air traffic service company, and therefore it will be used strictly for 24 hours a day, 7 days week without fail on request. As the generator is backing up Air Traffic, it is paramount that the generator is robust and therefore was tested under these strict and harsh conditions. This also allows the generator to be reliable and capable of being the first line of defence when unexpected occurs.
The final check was the documents that the generator is shipped with, just to check for the following; engine, alternator, control panel, nameplate and making sure the serial numbers matched up. Also, to make sure the generator was aesthetically pleasing, so, therefore, there is no scratched or little implements with the paintwork.
Overall, the generator phased extremely well throughout the whole Factory Acceptance Test and will continue to perform like this throughout its whole service at the air traffic service company.
